Welcome to the F Yeah Don Broco Tumblr! Run by Laurence and Courtney.
After the Rock Sound show in Cardiff the other day, I hung around at merch (helping sell it) because I just wanted one quick photo with Don Broco (seeing as it was my last show “as F Yeah”). Security weren’t having any of it and kicked me out the venue cause I had no pass. I had no phone battery, and told Bobby I would be outside - simple, eh?
Then these tweets happened…
(I managed to sneak back in - IN YOUR FACE CARDIFF SECURITY!).
…but it has to. Too many good memories.
Right, I don’t know where I’m gonna go with this, or what I’m gonna say, so stick with me yeah?
I’ve just watched this: http://www.rocksound.tv/tv/article/the-riot-tour-diaries-episode-1-manchester - it’s the first video diary from Rock Sound’s tour. If you didn’t know, Don Broco are supporting Billy Talent at MASSIVE venues around the country. They’re playing the Roundhouse on Sunday.
London Camden Roundhouse - 5000 people. Their biggest show to date, hands down.
It struck me. Don Broco are about to hit the big time.
If you don’t know who I am, I’m Laurence. I’m F Yeah. I started this thing in January 2011, just before the Big Fat Tour. I went to four shows on that tour, and watched Don Broco play to a good size of people every night. I’ve known about this band since April 2009. They played my local working man’s club, and I loved their sound ever since I first heard it.
I didn’t mean for F Yeah to get like this. I never wanted to be known/famous/whatever - I just liked to support a band and get the word out there. It started as this very Tumblr, because I didn’t think that there was enough stuff on Broco on the internet. And now look at them. They’re signed to Sony, playing a major tour, have posters in magazines, and are getting played on the Radio. It’s scary how so much change in 18 months.
F Yeah has brought me so much - and I could not be more grateful. I’ve met some really really great and lovely people through this thing, and through thing’s Broco related. I’ve had some amazing experiences, like sitting in on a radio show with them, and going to the Bedroom Jam final - and I never for one second take any of this for granted. I didn’t WANT any of this, I didn’t EXPECT it - it just happened. It’s still weird when people know what F Yeah is, when they link it to the band, and even weirder when they know that I run this thing. It’s so nice when people have good stuff to say about this, and really means a heck of a lot.
Recently, I’ve seen a lot about the Don Broco fans being a totally nice bunch - and this makes me proud. I’ve met a good handful of them, and never once have they been rude/arrogant/nasty - you’re all so bloody lovely!
I don’t know what I’m trying to say. It’s just strange seeing a band you’ve watched grow from playing little working man’s clubs to major venues across the UK go onto bigger things. I guess it’s that cliché of not wanting your favourite band to be known by other people. But I do. I love it when people dig Don Broco. They deserve their success.
Don Broco have always been the nicest bunch ever to me. I’ve seen them over 40 times now, and not once have I had a bad reaction. I’ve even gone to a different country to see them!
Support this band, please. They have a big year ahead of them (yes, a headline tour IS coming), and a lot more where they came from. You’ll have fun with them, like I have for the last year and a half.
I don’t know where F Yeah Don Broco goes from here. Maybe that needs some more thought. Just thank you. Thank you for giving me the time of day to write pointless tweets that make me cringe, and for helping me support this band. And thank you if you say hello, retweet, reply or whatever. It all means a lot.
And if you’re going to the London/Cardiff/Portsmouth Billy Talent shows, come find me and freak me out by knowing who I am.
Big Broco love,
F Yeah x
